Our Doctor

A Longmont Orthodontist Who Builds the Tools She Uses

Most orthodontists practice with the products that manufacturers send their way. Dr. Martin is one of a small group who has helped design those products. She holds four patents for orthodontic procedure products and works directly with Dentsply and Reliance Orthodontics on the development and refinement of clinical tools used by orthodontists worldwide.

What that means in practice is straightforward. The decisions she makes inside the office, from bracket selection to wire sequencing to retention strategy, are informed by years spent thinking critically about why orthodontic products work, where they fall short, and how they can be improved. Patients sometimes ask what difference that makes for the person sitting in the chair. The honest answer is that it adds a layer of rigor and curiosity to clinical decisions that you do not always get from a purely transactional practice.

A Teaching Career That Reinforces the Clinical One

Dr. Martin is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa, where she completed her orthodontic residency. She lectures internationally on advanced orthodontic technology and procedures, and her work has been published in the peer-reviewed American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

A teaching role and a research role inform the practice in the same way. Dr. Martin spends her professional life evaluating new techniques, scrutinizing the evidence behind them, and explaining them to other clinicians. That habit of rigor carries directly into how she approaches your case. You are not getting trial-and-error care. You are getting care designed by someone whose colleagues ask her to teach them.

Her Approach to Patient Care

Dr. Martin built Martin Family Orthodontics as a boutique practice on purpose. She does not want to run high-volume, factory-style orthodontics. She wants to know her patients, design every plan herself, and follow each case from first consultation to retention. Patients consistently tell us that the difference shows up in the smaller details: longer consultations, clear explanations, calm chair-side manner, and the sense that there is a real plan behind every adjustment.

The clinical rigor she brings to product development is the same rigor she brings to your case. Treatment plans are evidence-based, individualized, and revisited as treatment progresses.
